Forge Mill Needle Museum in Redditch is set in attractive countryside and is the only water driven scouring mill existing in the world. It illustrates the heritage of the needle and fishing tackle industries and close by are the ruins of Bordesley Abbey - a medieval Cistercian Abbey - and the Abbey Visitor Centre. BBC British History is a BBC site with an attractive interface and gives a good overview of British history throughout the ages.

British History On-Line is is the digital library containing some of the core sources for the medieval and modern history of the British Isles.

National Archives has a section on local history with advice on local history research and links to potential resources.

Redditch Local History Society is a group concerned with documenting and publicising the ‘living’ history of Redditch. The group meets at Forge Mill Needle Museum and is has a program of Heritage Walks, Exhibitions and Presentations. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the history of Redditch..

Redditch Local History Forum is a history  discussion forum set up by the Redditch Local History Society to share knowledge of the history of Redditch and its surrounding areas and promote a greater knowledge of this history.

Moon’s Moat Conservation Group  has been formed  to investigate, conserve and promote the historic Moons Moat site located in the Church Hill area of the town.


Bromsgrove BSMGH  is the branch of the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy  and Heraldry for North Worcestershire with a range of help and advice on beginning your family history search. There is also a family history forum.
