TheformerSmallwoodHospital,ChurchGreenWest,wasdesignedbyWilliamHenman,in1894-5.SmallwoodHospitalowesitsexistencetothegenerosityoflocalbusinessmenWilliamandEdwinSmallwood.EdwinSmallwood,whodiedin1892,left£5,000forthebuildingofaCottageHospitalandWilliamSmallwood,hisbrother,supplementedthiswithagiftof£15,000.FromthisfundtheHospitalwasbuilt,andwasopenedbytheCountessofPlymouthinMay,1895.Theformerhospitalisnowusedtohousevarioushealthrelatedfacilities.

In1850aLiteraryandScientificInstitutewasformedinRedditchandin1885buildingbeganontheirownpremisesinChurchRoadin1885,whenLieut.Col.theHon.GeorgeH.Windsor-Clive,MPlaidthefoundationstone.ThenewInstitutebuildingcost£2,400andthismoneywasgainedfromvoluntarysubscriptionsanddonations.In1886EarlBeauchampopenedthenewpremisesfortheSchoolofArt,theInstituteanditslibrary.WiththedevelopmentofthetownthebuildingbecametoosmallandtheLibrarymovedtotheirnewpremisesin1976.Fromtheearly1980stheChurchRoadbuildingfunctionedasanannexeofRedditchCollege/NEWCollege.Itisnowoccupiedbyoffices.
